Club career

Early career

Chivu's first representative club was FCM Reşiţa. After transferring to Universitatea Craiova, his reputation started to surge and his shows sparked spare-time activity from numerous expanded clubs into the open of Romania. Dutch club Ajax was principally impressed with Chivu and signalled him in 1999.

AFC Ajax
