The Dirk Love Fest

ITSSSSS TIME! Best of seven games in the NBA finals. Introducing first standing on one corner, standing seven foot tall weighing at 245 pounds Dirk Nowitzki!! Now the other corner standing at six foot eight weighing at 250 pounds, Lebron James!! It would be awesome if Bruce Buffer went to the first NBA finals game in Miami and introduced the entire lineup. It'll take way too long to introduced everyone in both lineups and I doubt the NBA would allow it. Anyways.. LETS GET READY TO RUMBLE!!!

No one really gives the Dallas Mavericks enough credit for what they did in the NBA playoffs. Everyone thought they were gonna lose to the Portland Trailblazers. Beat them in six games. Then they swept the NBA champions, Los Angeles Lakers and sent Phil Jackson into retirement. Lastly they fought hard against the young Oklahoma City Thunder and beat them in five games! There can not be enough said about Dirk Nowitzki. Before this postseason, everyone thought he was just a good spot up shooter, and now he transformed into this beast. Everyone talks about how Lebron, D-Wade, Kobe, or Melo being this great clutch time shooter, but no one gives Dirk his credit. When Dallas gets behind 10, 15 points in the 4th quarter everyone automatically assumes that the game is over except Dirk! If you been watching the NBA playoffs, this guy is making shots off one foot, gets fouled and still makes the shot, and if you leave him open, he will make you pay for it. This is why I truly believe that Dallas will take this series in six. No one in Miami can guard the guy. Sure you could throw Lebron at him and hope he'll do what he did to Derrick Rose but Dirk is at a different level. This is not the Dallas Mavericks of the past, this is not the Dallas Mavericks that Dirk or Jason Terry was part of in 2006 when they met the D-Wade and Shaq combo in the NBA finals! This team is built to win NOW. Dirk knows that this might be his last chance to try to get a NBA championship. So expect him to get the ball more often than everyone else. Expect him to utilize the unguardable fade away he seems to have mastered this postseason. Expect him to make the shots when their team desperatlly needs one. Expect him to be great.

Now I'm not going to be bias and not give Miami their credit due. They ran through a weak lineup in Philly (sorry Sixers fans) and beat them in five game. Then they ran into the then favorites Boston Celtics and beat them in five. Last they beat the best team in the NBA, the Chicago Bulls in five games. Lead by Lebron James and Dwyane Wade with Chris Bosh finally showing signs of life in the Chicago Bulls series, its no wonder this is team is the favorite to win it. However they haven't ran into someone with the caliber that is Dirk Nowitzki, Yes I understand that Derrick Rose was the NBA MVP this season, but do the players around him help him much? Was there anyone else that was a reliable scorer other then D Rose and Luol Deng? Was there any good swing defender that played the Miami Heat and slow down Lebron? Look I really wouldn't be a surprised if the Miami Heat beat the Dallas Mavericks, its just a gut feeling that this is the year that the Dallas Mavericks will finally win a NBA championship. Lets rewind real quick and look back at the 2006 NBA finals.

Dallas Mavericks vs. Miami Heat 2006

Starting line up for the Dallas Mavericks: DeSagana Diop, Josh Howard, Jason Terry, Dirk Nowitzki, and Adrian Griffin

Starting line up for the Miami Heat: Jason Williams, Pre-depressed Antoine Walker, Dwayne Wade, Udonis Haslem, and Shaq O'Neal

Dallas Mavericks vs Miami Heat 2011

Starting line up for the Dallas Mavericks: Jason Kidd, Shawn Marion, Dirk Nowitzki, Tyson Chandler, and DeShawn Stevenson

Starting line up for the Miami Heat: Mike Bibby, Joel Anthony, Chris Bosh, Lebron James, Dwyane Wade

If you want to compare the teams, the Dallas Mavericks have a better bench lead by Jason Terry and JJ Barea. Udonis Haslem will be a question mark throughout the series. The guy just got back from surgery and you really don't know what your going to get out of his. Regardless, the Dallas Mavericks still have a better bench than the Miami Heat.

What all that said, I believe this is the year that Dirk finally gets his well deserved NBA championship. From growing up being called a freak for his height and playing handball to getting drafted by the Milwaukee Bucks in 1998 (then being traded to Dallas for Robert "Tractor" Traylor) ninth overall. RIP Tractor. Starting off rough with then owner Ross Perot Jr to eventually going to Mark Cuban who then transformed the franchise from a laughingstock to what it is today. Averaging just 8.2 points and 3.4 rebounds a game in 1998 to 23 points and 7 rebounds a game in 2011. When its all said and done, not only will Dirk Nowitzki be the best NBA international player and will land somewhere in the top five in shooting forward, but he will also be labeled as Dirk Nowitzki, NBA champion.
